I have been on a hike up the steep learning curve for a few years of teaching myself the art of designing in three dimensional CAD based software., and I am flying with it now! It creates amazing realistic images of what your home is , and what it could be, and is the best tool I have found to show you what is in my head and work with you on planning your space. Images can be used in a number of ways. Because drawings are to scale and include a BIM (building inventory management list) they are a perfect set of plans for your contractors to work from. They can include dimensions and location of services such as electric and plumbing, or they can simply illustrate what a room redesign might look like. If we are planning your lighting, drawings can be very realistically light and reflection rendered to show you how general, task and ambient lighting will enhance your rooms. If you are investing in new furnishings, or considering structural changes you can try them on in your spaces for size, scale and suitability before spending . Real materials and textures can applied. What a help if you are reupholstering a sofa or choosing a piece of art. These are often my starting point for clients who wish to renovate a kitchen or finish a basement and wish to retain design control while flooded with differing advice from contractors and suppliers.
