I am Debbi Callander, Owner and Design Lead of Magick Home Makeovers. I started Magick several years ago with passion for great design, and after graduating from an intensive program in small business management. I had successfully purchased, renovated and flipped a couple of properties with a lot of mentoring from my extended family of custom home builders and contractors. I have a rich background in legal and therapeutic work, fine art and business. My listening and problem solving skills are sharp. What I hear people saying is that they have no time to sift through the endless choices available in home improvement today, let alone create stylish plans on a budget and timeline, and nobody can afford to just throw money blindly at the problem. Design principles and real estate presentation skills are distinct. They can be learned by anyone, but it takes talent to bring spaces to life and give them that wow factor. It also takes a good head for business, a network of solid suppliers and contractors and a knowledge of current market trends. I act as my clients’ advocate, ensuring that their interests are protected and that they get deals they can brag about to their neighbours. But above all, I am in the business of putting that smile on your face when you fall in love with your home all over again, or make a lucrative sale to buy your next dream. Just to sharpen my sword, I am a student of The Staging Diva® herself, Debra Gould and a member of the GTA Stage it Forward Round Table. I believe in the power of team work and can draw on some very talented people for large projects. I also collaborate with other designers and stagers from time to time on their large projects. Some of the images you see on my site are the product of sub-contracted staging work for Dane Caldwell of 2-Hounds Design. 2-Hounds specializes in vacant condos and lofts and other unique urban properties. This makes it possible for professional stagers to tackle broad projects for high end properties and deliver on time. |
